Checking in while on Retreat
Posted Under: Personal Journey
After Easter it is my habit to go on a retreat. I started this habit because of working as a Pastoral Associate in different Churches. The time and effort put into Lent and preparing for the Triduum celebration are wonderful, and draining at the same time. I found it essential to get away for a time to be re-Spirited and re-energized.
Now, I simply expect to go away after Easter each year, and I admit it is a very nice tradition. I am away on retreat right now, and staying in a house overlooking the Sound. We had rain the first couple of days, but now the sun is shining, and the view is awesome. It is good to be away on retreat.
This time I have access to Wireless, and can post a little something on my blog even while I am away. So, I’m checking in with you to let you know that I’m resting, reading, praying, pondering and playing for the next few days.
May all of this Easter Season bring you blessings and joy as we look toward Pentecost.

Thank you for providing the words to describe how I feel right now. I recently discovered the ECC and am reading everything I can find and came upon your blog. Finding the ECC is like “Coming Home”. I had stopped worshipping in the RCC and missed the Eucharist. Now, I feel a sesne of urgency to find out all I can about ECC and meet with others in our area–Oshkosh, WI.
I intend to keep in touch and thanks for your refleections. I am jealous you have found time to go on retreat–a practice I held for most of my life until recently when I let work take up all my time.
Peace,
Jake
Jake, I know how you feel about discovering the ECC because I was so happy to discover another way to be Catholic. ECC has a page on Facebook now, so if you are on Facebook, look us up. I don’t know if there are any communities in Wisconsin, but here in Washington there were no communities at one time either, so we started our own. Now we have three!
